Unfortunately every PC is different which means there are sometimes issues that arise when installing any software. if you encounter a problem and it is not explained on this page please click here to report your problem.
The immediate issues we are aware of only seem to occur on older computers with old versions of windows or older web browsers.
Some older versions of Windows XP have outdated versions of the Microsoft .NET framework, these are support files from Microsoft that allow your computer to install and run newer versions of software such as SEO Software.
Issue 1 - Updating your machine to Microsoft .NET 2 Framework
.NET version 2.0 is downloadable direct from the Microsoft website by (clicking here) this will only take approximately 5 minutes on a older PC with a broadband connection. It is necessary to be using a minimum of version 2.0 of .NET Framework although there are even newer versions available as standard with newer versions of windows.
SEO Software will attempt to detect if you do not have the minimum requirements on your computer and will prompt you during installation to download an updated version 2 .NET Framework please do so if prompted or you will not be able to install SEO Software and many other new software's released.
Issue 2 - Using Internet Explorer 6 or older or browser security settings obstructing the download.
If you are using an older browser the configuration settings will sometimes be set to block installation of software, this is for your security but it can also obstruct your downloading and installation of wanted software.
This may present itself by refreshing your open internet explorer window or other web browser with what appears to be programming script, this should only occur in older web browsers but if your security setting have been set in such a manner you see this inn newer browsers also.
You can temporarily change your browser settings to allow the install of SEO Software and then return them to their previous levels to maintain your security levels.
If you would like to change the internet browser settings to allow the download you will need to:
- Open your Internet Browser
- Click on the toolbar "Tools" option
- Click on "Internet Options"
- Click on the "Security" tab
- Click on the "Custom Level" button
In the list displayed find:
Find ".NET Framework-Reliant Components" section in the list
then set "Run Components not signed with Authenticode" to "ENABLE" (this should be a radio style button)
Find "Miscellaneous" section in the list
Now set "Open files based on content not file extension" to "ENABLE" (this should be a radio style button)
Click "OK" and proceed
Now try to download SEO Software again, you may still be prompted by your browser in a drop down box asking you if you wish to proceed, simply click to proceed and accept the installation.
It is common that if you see one of these issues you will need to solve both of them, they only usually appear with older versions of windows and older web browsers, this is because SEO Software was developed using the latest versions of C# programming which requires certain files to install and run.
The method used for developing SEO Software also allows for seemless updates to be made to the software which was deemed to be important as Google sometimes changes its crtieria, therfore we need to be able to ensure you have the latest version of our software and stay up to date with recent developments.
